Delicious, DIY Sweet Bay Pasta Sauce

An Instagram-worthy dinner starts with the best ingredients, and what’s better than plucking them from your own garden? This luscious, easy-to-whip-up pasta sauce was created just for you by one of our own craftsmen using Little Ragu® sweet bay leaves.  Little Ragu® Sweet Bay is a more compact version of a traditional sweet bay tree topping out at just 8’ tall and wide (so it’s great for containers).

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 small onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 stalk celery, chopped

1 carrot, chopped

4 – 6 basil leaves

Sea salt

Freshly ground pepper

32 oz crushed tomatoes

3 Little Ragu® Sweet Bay leaves

4 tablespoons butter

PREPARATION

In a large casserole pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic and saute until soft and fragrant. Add celery and carrots and season with salt and pepper. Saute until all the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, basil, Little Ragu® Sweet Bay leaves and simmer covered on low heat for 1 hour or until thick. Remove bay leaves and season to taste.
